fORT PLAIN - Mohawk, NY

A client from New York City who owns an 80 acre rolling hill property in a small bucolic town in Upstate New York commissioned the design of a 4,000 square feet modern house for weekend and summer recluse. The design intent is to compliment the beautiful rolling grade of the sprawling site by creating three building volumes which rise out of the ground like abstract rock formations. With varying sizes, the metal clad volumes would house various components of the residence; the main public realm of the house, the smaller private bedroom suite, and the garage. With covered porticoes and landscape windows, the house engages distant views and its immediate surroundings.
