LANDING - Weymouth, MA

A historic Federalist-style farmhouse on Boston's South Shore, originally constructed in 1838, has been updated and expanded with a 1,000 square-foot addition. The original 1,500 square-foot home was enhanced with a new arrival deck, foyer, flexible suite (serving as a library or guest bedroom), mudroom, and a master suite with a balcony.

The addition preserves key elements of the traditional design and architectural language of the original structure, while incorporating a modern approach to massing and details. The main volume of the expansion is clad in painted cedar shingles to harmonize with the original house, while recessed or protruding sections are accentuated with clear cedar clapboards, creating a subtle yet distinct contrast
