PLIANCY - boston, MA
A 7,000-square-foot open loft in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay served as the foundation for the design of this modern office space, created by our Boston-based architecture firm. Our client, a Silicon Valley technology company, engaged us to transform the space into a welcoming, collaborative workplace—one that moves away from the formality of a traditional office and instead embraces the comfort and flexibility of a modern work environment.
At the heart of this Boston office design is a “village center” — a central gathering hub that anchors the open loft. This informal space features a kitchen and café counter, encouraging collaboration and spontaneous conversation. Comfortable lounge seating surrounds the kitchen, offering flexible zones where employees and consultants can meet, work casually, or simply relax.
Behind the village center, we designed a custom screen wall, which serves both as a visual feature and an organizational element, creating a discreet circulation corridor that leads to private functions including bathrooms, storage, and stairs. This sculptural wall subtly incorporates the company’s name, connecting the design directly to the brand identity.
Encircling the village center, we created more structured workspaces and private meeting rooms, blending collaborative areas with quieter zones for focused work. This balance between hospitality-inspired design and functional workplace planning resulted in a flexible office environment that reflects the company’s culture of innovation while embracing the architectural character of the Back Bay loft.
This Boston office renovation reflects our firm’s expertise in commercial interior design, delivering a space that is both highly functional and warmly welcoming — a hallmark of our approach to modern workplace design in Boston and beyond.
