tIMBER RIDGE - chadds ford, pA

This modern 3,500 square-foot residence is situated on a wooded 5-acre lot on the outskirts of Philadelphia. The design features an L-shaped footprint, consisting of a slightly elevated main wing and a lower private wing, with the variation in floor height reflecting the gradual descent of the site contours.

The outer sides of the L-shaped structure predominantly feature vertical fenestration, providing glimpses of the surrounding trees, while the interior walls are mostly glazed to foster a seamless connection between the interior spaces and the natural landscape. One leg of the L is slightly angled, which causes the roofline to shift from its base, resulting in canopies of varying widths around the perimeter of the house. The gently sloped rooflines are designed to follow the contours of the land, enhancing the home's integration with its environment.
